Jackie Raynal with Berenice Reynaud

Once “the youngest film editor in France”, Jackie Raynal worked with several New Wave filmmakers before making her first film as a director, Deux Fois (1969), and moving to New York, where she ran the legendary Bleecker Street Cinema and Carnegie Hall Cinema.

Like many of his collaborators, filmmaker Jackie Raynal was present at the Cinémathèque Française’s memorial homage to Rohmer earlier this year. Sparked by the occasion, she looks back at her time with Rohmer in this heartfelt reminiscence.

Founded in 1999, Senses of Cinema is one of the first online film journals of its kind and has set the standard for professional, high quality film-related content on the Internet.
